There are two ways to get in at https://use.operating.app the first time around

1. Follow the invitation in your email inbox from Operating – just set a password and you’re in
2. If your company is using single sign on (SSO), use it to get in

The login page asks for Company name, your admins know what this is. For example, for Acme Consulting it is something like acme-consulting

What can you do with Operating

The app: Horizon for new work; Timeline with Projects and People for scheduling; Reports; and Hours for time tracking

Resource management

• Operating Horizon connects to your CRM and gets client and project info from there.
• When you’ve added the team setup and scheduled the work, you’ve successfully booked the people.
• Everyone in your company can see who’s working on what and who has availability now and in the future.
• For every Person in Operating, you have roles, seniority, skills and other metadata.

Business forecasting

• The work allocations (people scheduled to projects) form a bottom-up forecast of all of the work that’s confirmed or tentative. Of course the plans may be unrealistic, but still, it’s often the best guess of what is about to happen.
• Realistic understanding of your Project Portfolio; bottom-up Capacity Planning, filterable by role, skill, or group; and many other reports are extremely valuable for top management, making decisions related to offering development and recruiting.
• In the future, Operating will grow to give insights into profitability, budgeting, and account management.
